There are two basic kinds of traps:
- A nest box trap
- A bait trap
Each kind of trap works at different times of the season. The Troyer S&S Eliminator Trap is best used during the breeding season as it is considered a "nestbox trap". Place the trap on the sides of buildings, sheds or garages, that are within sight of your martin colony Set trap and monitor. Using traps in pairs is also a very effective tool for capturing starlings and sparrows. The nest box trap has been around for ages. While Robert did not come up with the nest box concept, he did come up with the all-metal trapping mechanism used within the trap. The Troyer's S&S eliminator is, in my opinion, the best one made these days. I like that you can enter two ways into the trap, thru the side port, ideal for removing the captured bird, or pull the pins and the front drops down giving you access to the all-metal trap mechanism.
A must-have for martin and bluebird lovers!
