Gilbertson Sparrow-Resistant Bluebird House (#GBB)
The Gilbertson PVC nest box features a western red cedar or brown poly-wood roof.

Where to place the Bluebird House
Features:
The entrance hole size is 1-½"
Depth of the compartment is 6-¾" width is 4"
Overall box size: 8" high x 4-½" wide
Cedar Roof measurements: 9" x 7-¼" x 1"
There is a wooden base in the bottom of the house, there is one hole that can be used as drainage for any rain that may blow in.
There are toe holds under the entrance inside of the house.
There are 2 half-moon vents at the rear of the house.
Roof measures approximately 9" x 7"
Squeeze the house sides and it easily removes for nest checks.
Mounts on your own provided 1/2” conduit pole
. (Approx. 6-½ feet long with 18-inches of pole into ground)
Sorry, NOT compatible with our aluminum bluebird post.

Gilbertson box worth the price
Best price & quality I've found for the box. But you need to buy a conduit pole to put it on. I already have 2 & the bluebirds really prefer these boxes.

A:
House sparrows like large dark compartments that they stuff full of grass. The sparrow-resistant bluebird house has a nice slotted opening (instead of a round hole) that allows light to enter the cavity. Second there is a nest tray included with the house that takes up space, thus making the cavity's depth smaller. For what ever reason it works, at least for me. Hopefully others will chime in. Diane

Has the wooden roof been preserved with a sealant? What kind of wood is used? Does the poly roof contain a UV inhibitor to preserve the plastic from sunlight? I need to place an order right away

The wooden roof is cedar and to my knowledge not treated. The Polywood rood has uv inhibitor. Hope that helps.

Not at all. And I’ve been using this type of BB house for more than 21 years. Mine were made by Mr. Gilbertson himself. He is retired now.

You will need to purchase your own ½" (half-inch) conduit. Your piece should be six and a half feet long. Place a board on top of your conduit and drive the conduit piece 18" into the ground. There is a hole on the back of the roof that your conduit will fit into.
For best results place away from tree line in an open area.
