How to Install
When to Open the Vent
Keep the threaded plug in place during colder early-season weather. Once the young are at least about one week old and beginning to develop feathers, the plug can be removed to provide additional airflow.
Why Ventilation Matters
As young Purple Martins grow, heat and moisture can build inside the nesting cavity. Additional ventilation helps move warm, moist air out of the gourd and can help keep the nest environment drier during hot weather.
