Because the original ground stake supplied with a complete gourd rack is installed permanently in the ground, relocating the system usually means leaving that stake behind and installing a new one at the new location.
Designed for Replacement or Relocation
The most common reason to purchase a replacement ground stake is simple: you want to move your gourd rack.
In most cases, replacement is not needed because the original stake has worn out — it is needed because the original stake has already been permanently installed and the customer wants to relocate the pole system.
Important — One Ground Stake Is Already Included with Complete Gourd Racks
If you are purchasing a complete compatible gourd rack system, you do not need to purchase this ground stake separately. A heavy-duty aluminum ground stake is already included with the complete rack.
This product is intended primarily for replacement or relocation.
Proper Ground Stake Installation
The heavy-duty aluminum ground stake measures 48 inches overall and is designed to be installed with:
- 24 inches below ground
- 24 inches above ground
The exposed 24-inch section provides the proper support and alignment for the compatible 2-inch square aluminum pole that slides over the ground stake.
For best results, the installation hole should be dug straight rather than flared wider at the top. A properly shaped hole helps prevent the concrete base from shifting or working upward over time.
Ground Stake or Ground Sleeve?
A replacement ground stake may be installed directly into the ground with concrete, just like the original stake supplied with your rack.
If you prefer the ability to remove the ground stake in the future, a compatible 2-inch Ground Sleeve can be installed instead. The ground stake then slides into the sleeve and can be removed when needed.
For most installations, either method works well. The choice depends primarily on whether you expect to leave the ground stake permanently in place or would prefer the option of removing it later.
