The 2-1/8" Round-Holed SuperGourd combines the benefits of a properly prepared natural gourd with the durability and convenience of molded plastic. Its roomy interior gives Purple Martins plenty of nesting space while providing landlords with a long-lasting, low-maintenance housing option.
Made from UV-inhibited high-density polyethylene, the SuperGourd is designed for years of outdoor use without the growing, drying, sealing, or annual painting required by natural gourds.

Hanging the SuperGourd
The SuperGourd can be hung vertically or horizontally. Most of our gourd racks use the horizontal hanging position, which allows the gourd to swing from side to side rather than front to back.
The existing hanging hole can be enlarged for use with a 3/8" gourd mounting arm. A molded drill guide is also provided for landlords who prefer the horizontal hanging position.
Compatible Accessories
- Pine Needles: Add a bed of pine needles before the martins arrive and keep extra bedding available for nest changes.
- Troyer's Vented Cap: Provides additional airflow during warm weather and as young birds develop.
- SuperGourd Porches: Optional porches can be added to the round-hole SuperGourd for additional perching space.

Optional Porch
A SuperGourd Porch can be added to the 2-1/8" Round-Holed SuperGourd. Adding a porch provides additional landing and perching space, but it does not make the round entrance starling-resistant.
