Troyer's Vented Cap
An easy way to add extra ventilation to compatible Purple Martin gourds.
Troyer's Vented Cap combines a heavy-duty replacement gourd cap with a built-in 3/4" 90° PVC elbow vent. It provides additional airflow through the nesting cavity and can be used when warmer weather or developing young make extra ventilation desirable.
Easy to Use
When to Use a Vented Cap
Early in the season, when temperatures can still be cold, use the original heavy-duty cap that came with your gourd. Once young are approximately 7-9 days old or beginning to feather, the vented cap can be installed to provide additional airflow.
Good ventilation can help reduce heat and moisture buildup inside plastic gourds, especially during warm and humid weather. Keeping the nesting chamber as dry as possible is an important part of maintaining a healthy nest environment.
