Thank you for your question!

The Troyer Horizontal Gourd with Sparrow Trap uses the Troyer Tunnel Trap, which is a manual-reset trap. Once a sparrow is caught, the trap does need to be reset before it can catch another bird.

To remove the sparrow, I recommend placing a bag securely over the entrance of the gourd first. Then carefully lift and remove the shutter door from the Tunnel Trap and gently tap the back of the gourd. The sparrow should move forward and into the bag, making removal much easier and helping prevent it from escaping.

You can also remove the access cap and reach into the gourd to remove the sparrow by hand, but there is a greater chance the bird could escape using this method.

After the sparrow has been removed, simply reset the Tunnel Trap and it is ready to use again.

I hope that helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions.
