New Maintenance
Pole: Upon arrival of your new gourd rack, use any good quality car paste wax and wax your pole. Waxing can aid in the slipperiness, as well as protecting the aluminum pole from the weather elements.
Pulleys: Oil pulleys every year, it keeps the pulleys from squealing and makes raising and lowering very easy. The best oil choice is 3in1 Household Oil. This should be done yearly if possible.
Assembly Tips
Spray some WD40 on the splice piece (connects the upper section of the pole to the lower section) before inserting into the bottom pole section.
Tools Needed for Assembly
Open end and box wrenches 1/2", 5/16" most common
Speed Square
Flat head and Phillips head screw drivers
Level
Tape Measure
Post hole digger, shovel
Cordless drill and bit 1/4" and 3/8" most common
3 in 1 Household Oil
When tightening bolts and nuts, tighten on the nut side and remember: righty-tighty, lefty-loosey
Yearly Maintenance
Rope: Check for fraying splitting or any cut marks on your rope. Note: minor fraying looks like little tufts of hair and is normal. If you are unsure of your rope replace it. Simply get in touch with us, we can supply you with a replacement rope at a reasonable cost.
End of Season
Gourds: Remove gourds and clean them using soap and water and if needed diluted bleach. Store clean gourds inside a barn or shed. Place your hitch pins in the Gourd Mounting Arm holes to keep from loosing them. Lower the hub section for the winter months. Though we recommend you store your gourds in the winter months, if you choose to keep your gourds on your rack don't leave the entrance open, it is a tempting winter home for squirrels.
